Local and Travel Information

Javea beautiful sandy beaches, great restaurants and bars, visit the old town, the busy port with its typical Spanish culture. Javea less than an hour from Alicante and Valencia offers the real taste of Spain.

Javea/Xabia is situated on the east coast of Spain, less than 100 km from Valencia (to the north) and 90 km from Alicante (to the south). Both of which have airport’s with many daily flights from the UK and easy access via the motorway.

The Port
This is where the majority of the Shops are, superb Restaurants, lots of Tapas Bars pavement café’s and a marina with working fishing port. The feeling around the old town its maze of street’s, still has a Spanish community this is where the Fiestas take place throughout the year such as the “Moors and the Christians” in July and the Festival of the Port in September. 

The Arenal
Is renowned for its blue flag beach accredited by the World Health Organization. There are many shops bars and restaurants and safe clear blue water to swim in.

This part of town has many amenities available throughout the year. There are many restaurants and bars to choose from in Javea, with varied types of food.

Cuisine/Eating out
Since Javea is a coastal town, fish and shellfish dishes are a plenty. Try the delicious stews, ‘Cruet de peix’ and ‘suc roig’. Also typical are fresh salted anchovies, tuna and the tasty ‘barreta de melva’, as well as Javea’s delicacy, ‘bogamarins’, (sea-urchins).

Rice is a main ingredient of many dishes, such as ‘arros al forn’ (oven baked rice), arros amb costra’ (covered with a crust of omelette), and of course, the traditional Paella. Also typical of Javea are ‘Cocas’, small pizza-like pasties filled with various ingredients from vegetables to oil and anchovies.

There are also small caves like ‘Tango’ or ‘Pope’, ‘Granadella creek’ which is ideal for diving and ‘Ambollo’(naturist). Javea’s coast also hosts a series of caves that are accessible by boat such as the caves of ‘Tabaco’ and ‘Orguens’ around Capes Negre and La Nau, and the ‘Cara Tallada’, on the Cape of Sant Antoni, which can also be reached by foot.

There is a series of mountain walks that allows you to explore the magnificent coastline and views. This is known locally as the Miraors’ and includes Cala Blanca, La Granadella, Creu de Portitoxol, Punta del cap Negre and La Falzia situated 150 metres from the Portitxol creeks, these offer spectacular views of the coastline from Cap de sant Antoni and cap prim to the impressive Cap Negre, to the Cap de la Nau, which is the nearest point to the island of Ibiza. At the foot of the cape you can also visit the well known caves of Orguens.
